Day 1: Arrival & Sightseeing in Addis Ababa
Arrival in Addis Ababa:
Upon arrival, you will be met by our representative at the airport and transferred to your hotel to refresh.
Sightseeing Highlights:
Drive to Mount Entoto for a panoramic view of the city.
Visit the National Museum, home to the famous fossil “Lucy,” one of the oldest hominids discovered.
Explore the Holy Trinity Cathedral, known for its stunning WWII-era architecture.
Discover the Ethnographic Museum, housed in Emperor Haile Selassie’s former palace, showcasing Ethiopia’s diverse cultures.
End your day at Merkato, the largest open-air market in East Africa, full of vibrant local life.
Optional (time permitting): Visit Unity Park and Entoto Park.
Day 2: Addis Ababa to Chebera Churchura National Park
After breakfast, depart Addis Ababa in the morning. You’ll drive via either the Addis–Jimma–Ameya Road or Addis–Shashemene–Sodo–Waka–Tocha route.
En Route:
Enjoy a scenic journey through Ethiopia’s southwestern highlands, with a stop for lunch along the way.
Arrival:
Reach Chebera Churchura National Park in the late afternoon. Enjoy the serene surroundings and settle into your campsite or park headquarters.
Overnight: Park campsite
Day 3: Wildlife Exploration in Chebera Churchura National Park
Morning:
Begin with a guided walk through Meka and Erka Forests, rich with African elephants, hippos, Cape buffalo, lions, and leopards.
Birdwatching: Spot numerous bird species in this biodiversity hotspot.
Afternoon:
Visit the hot springs and waterfall in the park.
Explore a nearby lake, ideal for peaceful birdwatching and relaxation.
Overnight: Park campsite
Day 4: Discover More of Chebera Churchura National Park
Morning:
Explore the spectacular Borbo Falls and tranquil Bulo Lake.
Afternoon Options:
Take a rugged 80 km drive along the park’s western boundary for sweeping views, or
Embark on a trek through the park via scenic footpaths for deeper immersion into its wilderness.
Overnight: Park campsite
Day 5: Chebera Churchura to Sodo
Morning:
After breakfast, depart the park and begin your drive to Sodo.
Afternoon:
Arrive and check into Lewi Resort for a comfortable and relaxing evening.
Overnight: Lewi Resort or similar hotel
Day 6: Chencha Dorze Villages & Arbaminch
Morning:
Enjoy a boat trip on Lake Chamo in Arbaminch, visiting the Crocodile Market—a unique area where crocodiles, hippos, and birds gather.
Afternoon:
Head to the Dorze Village in the Gughe Mountains, where you’ll experience traditional culture and admire the iconic beehive-shaped huts.
Overnight: Lodge or hotel in Arbaminch
Day 7: Arbaminch to Addis Ababa – Departure
Morning:
Fly back to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, enjoy some time to reflect on your journey.
Evening:
Attend a farewell cultural program, complete with traditional music, dancing, and Ethiopian cuisine.
You’ll then be transferred to Bole International Airport for your international flight home.
