Itenerary
Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa – Drive to Bale Mountains (Dinsho)
Upon arrival at Addis Ababa, meet your guide at the airport and embark on the drive to Dinsho, the headquarters of Bale Mountains National Park.
In the afternoon or evening, explore Gaysay Valley, home to:
Herds of Bohor reedbuck
Groups of Mountain Nyala
Warthogs, Grey duikers, and possibly Serval cats at dusk
Accommodation: Camping at Dinsho
Day 2: Dinsho – Wildlife Walk and Birdwatching
Morning: Enjoy an early wildlife walk near the Park HQ in search of endemic species.
Daytime: Spend the day birdwatching in the surrounding park grasslands, home to diverse birdlife.
Accommodation: Camping at Dinsho
Day 3: Sanetti Plateau Exploration – Goba
Morning: Breakfast in Robe before embarking on a full-day exploration of the Sanetti Plateau, known for its high-altitude Afroalpine ecosystem. This area offers the best chances to spot the endangered Ethiopian wolf.
Lunch: Packed lunch from Robe.
Evening: Return to Goba after a day of exploration.
Accommodation: Wabe Shebelle Hotel, Goba
Day 4: Harenna Forest and Escarpment
Drive to the southern section of Bale Mountains National Park.
Explore the lush Harenna Forest and enjoy spectacular views from the Harenna Escarpment, towering 2,000 meters above the forest.
Accommodation: Local lodge or camping
Day 5: Return to Addis Ababa – Fly Home
Morning: Fly back to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, reflect on your journey and enjoy a farewell program. Afterward, you will be transferred to Bole International Airport for your international flight back home.
