Itenerary

Day 1: Fly Addis Ababa to Jimma
Morning flight from Addis Ababa to Jimma. Upon arrival, visit local coffee farms and a coffee union to learn about the cultivation and processing of Ethiopia’s prized beans.
End the day with your first coffee tasting session, sampling some of Jimma’s finest brews.

Overnight: Central Hotel or similar, Jimma

Day 2: Journey to Keffa – Origin of Arabica Coffee
Drive to Keffa, considered the birthplace of Coffea Arabica. Visit traditional coffee farms nestled in the lush highlands, meet local growers, and take part in an authentic Ethiopian coffee ceremony.
Return to Jimma in the evening.

Overnight: Central Hotel or similar, Jimma

Day 3: Limmu Coffee Farms or Bonga – National Coffee Museum
Choose between two options for the day:

  • Option 1: Visit Limmu coffee farms, renowned for their washed Arabica beans, and observe traditional and modern processing techniques.

  • Option 2: Travel to Bonga to explore the National Coffee Museum, showcasing the rich history and cultural significance of coffee in Ethiopia.

Return to Jimma after your visit.

Overnight: Central Hotel or similar, Jimma

Day 4: Day Trip to Bebeka – Ethiopia’s Largest Coffee Farm
Travel to Bebeka, near Mizan Teferi, home to Ethiopia’s largest coffee plantation. Enjoy a guided farm tour, explore the expansive grounds, and take part in a coffee tasting session featuring local varietals.
Return to Jimma in the late afternoon.

Day 5: Drive to Awassa via Sodo
Depart Jimma and drive southeast to Awassa via the scenic town of Sodo. Enjoy breathtaking views of evergreen coffee farms and the diverse agricultural landscapes along the way.

Day 6: Yirgacheffe Coffee Tour – Continue to Yirgalem
Drive to Yirgacheffe, one of Ethiopia’s most famous coffee-growing regions. Visit local coffee farms and a cooperative, and take part in a guided coffee tasting session.
In the afternoon, continue to Yirgalem, a peaceful retreat in the southern highlands.

Overnight: Aregash Lodge or similar, Yirgalem

Day 7: Awassa Fish Market – Abiata-Shala National Park – Return to Addis Ababa – Departure
Start your day with an early visit to the vibrant Awassa Fish Market, where locals sell and prepare freshly caught fish by the lake.
Continue your journey north through the Rift Valley, stopping at Abiata-Shala National Park, known for its hot springs and large flocks of flamingos.
Enjoy lunch by the lake in Ziway, then return to Addis Ababa.

In the evening, transfer to Bole International Airport for your international departure.
